/If you are looking for car detailing for removing odour or cleaning a spill to prevent odour, do not book with us. We specialize in cleaning auto upholstery, our service is ideal for the removal of stains, dirt and pet hair from all accessible interior surfaces. Our service is best for extremely dirty vehicles. However, odour removal requires additional cleaning steps that we don’t offer. We highly recommend that you take your vehicle to another Detail Shop and have them specifically address your odour problem, with a customized detail cleaning package that does everything necessary to remove your specific odour problem. In most cases, this will cost less than our service and solve your biggest concern.
Here is a list of the specific auto detailing steps required to remove odour, that we do not offer:
Seat Removal - we do not remove seats as part of our cleaning, some auto detailers do and it can be very useful. If the front seats are removed it is very easy to access beneath carpet and underlay. If a spill has seeped through the carpet and underlay something extra has to be done to remove this potential cause of mould, mildew and odour.
Door Entry Guard Removal - the plastic floor running board or door entry guard can be lifted and it allows cleaning access beneath the carpet in the foot well. If the foot well has been flooded with any fluid, just vacuuming fluids up from the top of carpet may not be enough to prevent odour. You should find a car detailer who offers this type of cleaning.
Spare Tire Well Cleaning - we do not as part of our Complete Detail clean the spare tire well, spare tire, jack etc. Significant, liquid spills in car trunks or rear cargo areas of SUVs, will fill the spare tire wells with liquid, that may eventually cause odour. You would need an auto detail that includes removing the spare tire and cleaning the spare tire and entire spare tire well compartment.
Other Invasive Cleaning - there are other invasive cleaning steps that can be done such as removing door panels to access spills that have gone between the window and the bottom sill then down into the interior of the door, which is frequently an issue when dealing with vomit. Rear cargo area and trunk panels can be removed to clean behind them, which is a necessary step for mouse dropping and odour removal. There are even auto detailing shops that will remove dash and console components for a more thorough odour removal cleaning.
Seat Cushion Flushing - spills deep into the cushion of leather, vinyl or cloth seats like urine, blood or other bio fluids require deeper cleaning than the stain removing shampoo that we perform in our Complete Detail. You would need to find a Detail Shop which would perform some sort of deep flushing of the cushion to remove these spills.
Cabin Filter Changing/Evaporator Coil Cleaning - if the odour is coming from the air conditioning the vehicle may require a cabin filter change. Some auto detailers or auto mechanics offer this service, mechanics also can perform an evaporator coil cleaning which requires the removal of some dash components.
Air Ventilation Cleaning - some auto detailers offer steam cleaning of the vents to remove cigarette smoke odour, we don’t.
Odour Bomb Treatment - there are effective enzyme based deodorizers. One really effective method is an odor bomb canister that’s set-off in a closed vehicle with the air conditioning running to circulate the deodorizer throughout the vehicle. This works very well at masking the odor and lasts relatively long. You would have to find another Detail Shop to perform this.
Ozone Odour Treatment - Some Detail Shops offer Ozone Odour treatment, they use an ozone generating machine to pump ozone into the vehicle over a 2 or 3 hour period. The ozone is very effective at neutralizing the source of odours. This effective treatment may however, require more than one application for satisfactory results. It is a final solution for odours that can’t be cleaned at the source due to difficulty of access.
