Any vehicle left idle for long periods of time may become a target for rodents to enter and if idle long enough, those rodents may begin to nest. Rodents can cause damage by chewing through insulation and wires, create nests in hidden areas, and worst of all leave behind their droppings and urine.

The good news is that the second the vehicle moves, the rodents flee never to return, so you don’t have to worry about rodents crawling over your feet while you are driving. The bad news is that the droppings and urine left behind may contain an extremely dangerous virus that is called Hantavirus and can cause severe, sometimes fatal, respiratory disease. However, in all fairness, the mice carrying Hantavirus are not our common house mice or roof rats. The carriers of Hantavirus are deer mice and the white-footed mice, which are rare in the urban areas of Milton, Ontario.

Mouse nest and dropping removal is a rare, special auto-detailing service. Mouse nest and dropping removal require extra tasks and time not generally allotted for in a Complete Detail. For those two reasons and the back-to-back nature of how we book vehicles at Super Carwash Detailing Ltd. it is impossible for us to address your Mouse nest and dropping removal problem. You would have to contact another company to solve your problem.

The first task required to address Mouse Nest and Droppings Removal, is a disinfecting fogging of the entire vehicle prior to cleaning in order to eliminate the Hantavirus threat. This step alone is the minimum required cleaning for the safety of passengers sealed up at times in a vehicle that has been infested by rodents.

Finally, the detailer needs to physically remove and clean surfaces where nesting materials and droppings have been deposited. This most certainly includes inside the dash, beneath rear bench seats (which may require their removal), inside the spare tire compartment, engine area and inside the cabin filter. As well as, behind panelling within the trunk or cargo areas over the wheel wells. Also, some sort of high pressure steaming most definitely would have to be done inside the vents since physically cleaning them is impossible.

Unfortunately, even after all this cleaning there is still a variety of inaccessible areas that mice may access and then leave droppings and urine. These inaccessible areas may continue to contribute to that distinctive musky mouse dropping odour, that may unfortunately stay with the vehicle even after all these professional auto-detailing steps have been taken.

Importantly, in almost all cases of a mouse dropping and urine issue, an ozone odour treatment, after a thorough invasive cleaning, would be required. An ozone generating machine pumps ozone into the vehicle over a period of a few hours, the ozone breaks down odour causing particles. Especially, odour causing particles in inaccessible areas. An Ozone odour treatment is extremely effective at removing mouse dropping and urine odours. However, a single ozone treatment session may not be enough, you may find you still smell the mouse droppings and urine and a repeat ozone treatment may be required.

It is impossible for any company to completely guarantee to remove the odour of mouse droppings and urine. And, if you are particularly sensitive to the odour of mouse droppings and urine, when it’s done, what to others may seem as slight or non-existent, to you may seem over-whelming and unacceptable.

Once again, we do not offer any type of odour removal services, at Super Car Wash Detailing. We specialize in cleaning upholstery, our service is ideal for the removal of cosmetic stains from accessible interior surfaces, such as headliners, seat-belts, cloth and leather seats, carpet and mats. We do not offer any cleaning of inaccessible areas such as the cushion portion of seating, the backing of headliners or the under-lay beneath carpeting, the type of special cleaning which is absolutely necessary to begin to address a mouse dropping and urine odour.
